Taking Notes

I read a Substack last week that blew my mind.

Elizabeth Berg is a professional writer, so one would expect her to write well.

That said, "Let’s Go To Hawaii" was just an incredible read.

The part that amazed me most was the recall, the detail of the events. I’m sure there was some literary license in the quotes, and that makes perfect sense.

I commented on that in the comments, and she responded that she "took lots of notes."

Thinking on that, I realized that I should take more "notes" about things that happen in life. Not as a true "journal" in itself, because that usually causes me to shut down, eventually. I try to make the notes themselves into a work of art, rather than something to reference later.

So, while I have a Journey Journal, it’s likely that most of my "notes" about day to day events will go into either Google Calendar or Google Keep. I find those to be the most universally accessible things that I have (although I have Evernote, as well. I just don’t use it much these days.) I have a lot of information in Keep and Calendar both, but there’s plenty of room for more.

Journey IS a great app, but I don’t like the access on a computer. It’s difficult to search, and that’s not cool. I love how it works on mobile devices, but laptop access is crucial, as well.
